HEYWOOD’S book of pre-season action has bitten the dust. Following Middleton’s decision to call off entertaining Heywood at Towncroft on Saturday, two friendlies arranged for Crimble this weekend have also had to be abandoned. Heywood’s second team were due to host Bamford Fieldhouse on Saturday, with the first team planning action against Norden on Sunday. Click here for more ….

HEYWOOD’S proposed first team friendly at Middleton on Saturday (April 9) has been cancelled. Towncroft, like many other clubs, has taken a battering during the winter and Heywood have been informed by their neighbours that it will not be fit for the weekend. The Club plays its first game in the exciting set-up at home to Glossop on Saturday, April 16 (12.30). And rumours that the Crimble ground itself might not be ready have been firmly dispelled. Tom Hardman A CHARITY walk/run commemorating one of the brightest young talents ever produced at Heywood Cricket Club will be staged again in March. The TH96 Charity Challenge remembers all-rounder Tom Hardman, who came through the youth ranks at Crimble, graduated to the Lancashire Cricket Club Academy and played for the county’s age group sides and eventually Click here for more ….

Heywood host Littleborough on Saturday and Rochdale on Sunday on the back of some excellent performances. Having beaten Boro at Hare Hill two weeks ago, Danny Pawson’s side then beat Walsden at Crimble on Saturday, before just missing out on victory at a wet Norden on Sunday.
