Heywood skipper Bobby Cross is excited about his side’s prospects ahead the Lees Bitter T20 Finals Day at Hare Hill on Sunday. Heywood qualified for the final after a bowl out victory over Monton and Weaste on Tuesday. HEYWOOD are this week grappling with a dilemma over the date for an important Cup showdown. All the quarter-finalists in the Lees Bitter Twenty20 Cup were ordered to reply their games  on Friday night (6.15), after last Friday’s scheduled date was another total wash-out. Heywood CC face a Friday night showdown with Monton and Weaste at Crimble after topping the North West group in the CLL’s T20 competition. Norden beat Rochdale at Woodhouse Lane last night in a last-ball thriller, meaning Heywood top the group with Middleton going through as runners’-up. All of tonight’s T20 matches in the CLL have been called off. Heywood were due to make the trip to Redbrook tonight to face Rochdale, but as usual the foul weather has intervened. All games will be replayed on Monday 25 June (time to be decided).

Andy Dawson took the plaudits in tonight’s (Tuesday) victory over Middleton in the T20 – but the win had everything to do with a stunning performance in the field from Bobby Cross’s boys.
