A WOMEN’S Softball Cricket Festival will be staged at Heywood Cricket Club on September 1.
The event, from 6-9pm, is part of a series being organised by the Lancashire Cricket Board, and is designed as a fun way to potentially get women involved in the sport.
And it is hoped that other clubs in the area may want to enter squads to make it a fun night for the women’s game.

What a fantastic night at Heywood CC last night. Thanks to Julie Durrant of the LCB, Mike Jackson and all the volunteers who made it such an enjoyable event. We must do it again next year, perhaps earlier in the season, so we have more light. Congratulations to our Huywood team who won the tournament despite playing the final in the dark. Think their name was “The Ball Tamperes” !!!!
