WINNING TEAM … Liz Alton, who instigated the Crown Oil sponsorship of Heywood’s junior training kit, and two of her colleagues show off one of the new shirts.

THANK YOU evening to Sponsors and Friends of Heywood Cricket Club at Crimble proved an enjoyable occasion.

A sizeable gathering was treated to food and drink at Crimble for their continued support of the Club, and it was also the opportunity to thank one long-term sponsor and a new one.

J W Lees Brewery have sponsored the Club for more 35 years, and Mark Simmonds represented the Middleton company.

New backers this year are Heap Bridge-based Crown Oil. And Liz Alton, plus two of her colleagues, were able to show off the new junior training kit.

The Friends of Heywood Cricket Club scheme, introduced almost two years ago, has provided an invaluable extra source of income and helped the Club prosper on both a social and playing front.

Chairman John Rhodes said: “Keeping a club like ours going can prove extremely testing, so to have both J W Lees and Crown Oil on board is a terrific boost and greatly appreciated.

“So is the backing of the many members who have subscribed to the Friends of Heywood Cricket Club scheme and provide a vital, monthly extra financial boost.

“We are also deeply grateful to the several people who dig deep into their pockets and regularly provide individual donations

“We depend so much on all this financial support, plus the whole membership of the Club, to maintain our position as the town’s premier sports club.”
