HEYWOOD’S senior side face their first two Greater Manchester Cricket League (GMCL) matches away from Crimble in an important 2020 season.

They open on Saturday, April 18, with a trip to Whalley Range in a repeat of the meeting between the two clubs back in May last year – when Range came out on top by 70 runs in the first round of the Derek Kay 1st X1 Cup.

And the following week sees the side on the road again to take on Shaw.

That means it will be the beginning of May before the first team step out at home against Edenfield.

League games carry on until September 12, when Heywood conclude with a trip to Saddleworth area side Friarmere.

It’s clearly a consequential season for Heywood following their demotion to the third tier of the GMCL, with life in the in the newly created Championship two levels below the Premier League and Premier League 2.

Heywood’s second team start their Division 3 East campaign at home to Flowery Field (April 18) and Mottram (April 25).

And the third team also have a Crimble opener on April 19 when they entertain Littleborough Lakeside.

The first round of the Championship Cup is on Sunday, May 17; the Second X1 Cup is on May 24; and the 3rd X1 Cup on May 31. The draws have yet to be made.
