Heywood CC’s 3rd XI enjoyed a comfortable victory in their Frank Bailey Trophy clash with Winton. Pete Mills’ side – a mixture of experience and young talent – cruised to a seven-wicket victory at Winton, which included some encouraging performances. Heywood 3rd XI ended their season with two defeats last weekend, but they didn’t disgrace themselves. On Saturday they played host to Deane and Derby and posted a challenging target of 184-4 at Crimble. Sean Chapman was the only real ray of light on an otherwise gloomy day for Heywood’s 3rd XI at Winton last Sunday. Chapman took his first senior wickets for the club in the 170-run defeat, ending up with an impressive five-wicket haul in Winton’s mammoth total of 269-9 off their 45 overs.
