Heywood get their CLL season underway this weekend, following Saturday’s friendly at Middleton.

Again, it’s a chance for Liam Mason and Kate Cross to make their Heywood first XI debuts.

Sunday sees a tough opener for Danny Pawson’s side, a trip to Clifton.

A progressive club, Clifton are always looking to bring players in to strengthen their side and have signed Joe McCann from Kearlsey to go alongside Indian overseas Srivastava and with a local pro in former Lancashire man Gareth Cross, they could well mount a challenge for the CLL title.

  1. Good luck to everyone for a successful and enjoyable season.

  2. Echo Olly’s best wishes to all!
Seems strange with no R Smethurst at the helm/ in the twos – hope to see the reports of his swashbuckling knocks shortly!
