Heywood have signed Enfield pro Brad Moses for Saturday’s home clash with Rochdale.
South African Moses, 30, is a top order batsman and off-spin bowler. He plays his first class cricket for Easterns (formerly Eastern Province).
He scored 90 and took five wickets last weekend against the Lancashire League champions Lowerhouse.
Travis Townsend split the webbing in his hand while fielding in last Friday’s T20 clash with Norden and is out for an as yet unspecified period of time.
]]>Stewart, who was educated at St Joseph’s RC School, was a playing member at Crimble from 1958 to 1977.
He featured in 120 innings with the first team, making 928 runs with a top score of 54 at Oldham. He was also a useful change bowler, and took 11 wickets.
Stewart was well known in in Heywood for his work with the Hudson electrical retailers on Church Street. After that store closed, he ran his own TV hire and repair business.
His older brother Colin was first team wicketkeeper for many years and played with the club from 1953 to 1977. He passed away five years ago.
The funeral is next Wednesday, January 16, at Middleton Crematorium at 11.10am followed by a gathering at Heywoood CC.
