HEYWOOD’S senior side go to Uppermill on Saturday knowing that it’s crunch time in the Greater Manchester Cricket League.
With three games left of the 2019 season they still have a chance of promotion back to the Premier League by finishing in the top two of Division 1A.
But a secondary target is a place in the new Premier 2 division for the 2020 campaign after the qualifying criteria was set out this week.
The League have decided that 12-team Premier 2 will consist of: four teams relegated from the Premier Division; teams finishing third, fourth and fifth in Division 1A and 1B; the team with most points by finishing sixth in either Division 1A and 1B; and Bradshaw, newly accepted into the League for next season.
Heywood are currently joint fourth with Flowery Field in Division 1A, nine points behind leaders Moorside but only five behind joint second placed Glodwick and Denton West.
And the last two games of the season are at home to Flowery Field and away to Glodwick.
The second team are currently joint bottom of Division 3 East and take on Flowery Field at Crimble on Saturday.
