CHRIS Kaye answers an SOS call for Heywood at the weekend.

The senior side are down to the bones on the bowling front with the Humphreys family being unavailable, causing problems in the senior attack for the do-or-die relegation games at Egerton on Saturday and at home to Glossop on Sunday.

That sees Kaye, who has been skippering the second team this season, returning for a double-header that Heywood really must get something out of to have a chance of preserving their Greater Manchester Premier League status.

Kaye, the Club’s record wicket-taker, will form an all left-arm spin attack with 15-year-old Jack Morley, who missed last weekend’s game at home to Edgworth owing to selection in the prestigious ‘Best of Bunbury’ representative match at Loughborough University.

Also back in the side after injury is Andy Dawson, who was thought to be out for the season after damaging his ankle in a recent fall.

One further change for Sunday’s game sees Dominic Fawcett, who impressed in the 3rd X1 Cup semi-final and final victories at the weekend, step up in place of Liam Mason.

Egerton away is probably the toughest fixture that Heywood could have at this stage of the season, with the Bolton area club going for the inaugural Premier title.

The Glossop game is a re-arrangement from the curtailed clash between the two sides back on the opening day of the season back in April.

The second team, meanwhile, again rely a couple of their longest-serving players in the shape of David Fare and Mark Wright for their home game with Swinton Moorside on Saturday.

HEYWOOD 1st X1 v Egerton, away, Saturday (12.30): D Pawson (pro, capt), R Cross, J Borg, J Morley, L Mason, S Burrill, S Dawson, A Dawson, M Grogan, M Witts, C Kaye.

HEYWOOD 2nd X1 v Swinton Moorside, home, Saturday (1pm): R Smethurst, R Bennett, D Fawcett, J Keyworth, R Purser, C Hilton, J Mills, T Pagett, D Fare, J Kaye, M Wright.

HEYWOOD 1st X1 v Glossop, home, Sunday (12.30): Same team as Saturday, except D Fawcett replaces L Mason.
