Heywood seconds’ Burton Cup dream was ended by a superior Middleton team at Crimble on Saturday. Yes, a poor wicket and some indiscipline from Heywood contributed to their below-par total of 107 all out, but Middleton bowled straighter than Heywood and gave the batsmen little to hit. Not surprisingly, because of the weather, Heywood CC’s Burton Cup final clash with Middleton was postponed today. The match will now be played next Saturday, September 1. Heywood are at full strength for Monday’s Burton Cup final clash at Crimble. Andy Dawson and Curtis Maguire are back to spearhead Heywood’s first tilt at the cup since 1996.
