HEYWOOD second team’s Division 4 East title aspirations were virtually crushed by leaders Hollinwood at Crimble.
The local side’s batting frailties resurfaced as they were sent packing for a meagre 54, then the visitors strolled to victory by seven wickets.
It leaves Hollinwood in pole position to take the title. They lead on 88 points, Denton have 79 and Heywood are on 73.
With just four games left Hollinwood are clearly in the box seat, but the battle for the second promotion place is still very much alive.
Cav Hilton with 17 top-scored against Hollinwood, but Chris Kaye (11) was the only other player to reach double figures.
Hollinwood briefly totted on 26-3 after James Mills claimed two wickets and Kaye the other, but there were no further alarms for the visitors who reached 55-3.
