HEYWOOD’S players and supporters will take a trip down memory lane in the semi-finals of the Derek Kay 1st X1 Cup.

They have been given a trip to Royton, their perennial foes in the Central Lancashire League before both clubs joined the newly-formed Greater Manchester League, on Sunday, July 22.

The other semi-final sees Greenmount host Flowery Field.

Royton are currently top of Division 1A and look favourites for promotion to the Premier League, while Heywood are second from bottom of the top flight.

So, on paper at least, the semi-final at The Paddock looks finely balanced with both sides eyeing the possibility of lifting some silverware this season.

I suppose it depends on who turns up to play on the day based on the season so far it could be another scratch side.
