A REMINDER to families that the annual Junior Registration Night at Heywood Cricket Club is tomorrow evening (Thursday, March 30) at 7pm.
The youth side of the Club has always been a priority at Crimble, but a newly-formed Junior Cricket Committee has been working hard over the winter months to make it become more appealing than ever.
It is hoped that the majority of last year’s crop of juniors will sign up again, but officials are optimistic that families and youngsters new to the sport will support the evening and find out what the Club has to offer.
Qualified coaches and managers will be present for Under-Nines, Under-11s, Under-13s, Under-15s and Under-18s levels.
There is also a new section for girls between the age of eight and 14, with a view to forming a side to play at a competitive level.
Any junior registering on the night will be given a new Heywood CC cap plus a Junior Handbook, and learn more of plans for the 2017 season.
Junior Cricket Committee chairman Matt Hilton said: “Cricket is excellent recreation for youngsters, and that is where we at Crimble have plenty to offer.
“Training nights will be well organised in a safe environment, and parents can watch their children – with refreshment from the Club bar if desired! – fulfilling their competitive instincts.
“Also, as a member of the Greater Manchester Cricket League, we have age group fixtures with other clubs during the summer months to provide the juniors with something to aim for.”
Training nights have been switched back to Tuesday s (6.15pm) starting on April 11.
For more information, contact Matt Hilton on email@example.com or Club secretary Gwen Edwards on 01706-621710.
Or just turn up on the night!
