ONE of Heywood’s neighbours will contest the Lancashire Cricket Foundation KO Cup final at Crimble on Sunday, September 8 (1pm).
Norden will take on the holders, fellow Lancashire League club Darwen, in what promises to be an exciting climax to the county’s premier knockout competition.
Norden’s hopes of making the big date looked to be fading when they were bowled out for 116 in the semi-final at Kendal area club Netherfield.
But the Norden attack stuck to their guns and toppled their opponents for 99, professional Jake Sandham claiming 4-30 and skipper Hashum Malik 3-25.
Darwen pulled off a three-wicket win at Horwich after skittling the home side for 105, with three wickets apiece for Dave Bowden and Greg Lawrenson.
The visitors were made to work hard to pull off the run chase, however, and reached their target with just seven balls and three wickets to spare. Skipper Scott Friend made 31 and his brother Mark an unbeaten 29.
