AN England Under-16 side wilted under a boiling sun as they comfortably lost their final game of their Sri Lankan tour in Galle.
The home side won a crucial toss and made 243-6 from their 50 overs in oppressive weather, with only Heywood’s Jack Morley and Ben Charlesworth getting among the wickets.
Morley dismissed both home openers to stumpings and finished with 2-34 from his 10 overs, while Charlesworth claimed 2-23 from six overs. The other two wickets fell to run-outs.
It was always going to prove a difficult task for the tourists considering the conditions, and the chase became almost impossible as the first three wickets fell for just 13 runs. They eventually subsided for 139 in 42-4 overs.
But Morley can look back on a tour containing plenty of personal credit as he took wickets in all of the four games.
