HEYWOOD are making plans to stage one of their biggest games in recent years.

The Lancashire Cricket Foundation Cup final is between Heywood’s neighbours Norden and holders Darwen at Crimble on Sunday, September 8 (1pm).

And now Heywood chairman John Rhodes is appealing for any members who can help with preparations in the countdown to the climax of the county’s premier knockout competition.

He said: “We want to make sure that it will not be a last-minute rush to get Crimble looking spick and span, and I’m hoping that we can call upon more than just the people who help make the ground look as good as it does on a weekly basis.

“Our ground crew do a magnificent job but I feel we will need some extra help to show off Crimble for this big occasion.

“Therefore, I am calling an informal meeting in the Clubhouse next Tuesday, August 13, at 8pm when anyone who thinks they can lend a helping hand – no matter how small – in the countdown will be welcome to have their input.

“Those who feel able to help but can’t attend this meeting can call me on 07703-543341. Otherwise, I hope to see you on Tuesday.”
