Dom Fawcett was again the star of the show for Heywood thirds as they made it two wins on the bounce at Worsley on Sunday.

Fawcett made the most of an early let-off to hit an impressive 54 to follow his innings of 75 and 27 not out in his last two matches as Heywood chased down Worsley’s 142.

He was helped on the way by veteran Sean McConnell (27) and fellow youngster Callum Openshaw, who hit a promising 31 to go along with a solid performance behind the stumps.

Worsley were restricted thanks to the bowling of a couple of veterans and three run outs.

Captain Pete Mills finished with the astonishing figures of 9-7-7-0, while David Fare, playing against the club he left in 1976 to join Heywood, picked up 3-26, defying age and an increasingly low action.

Mikey Grogan also picked up two wickets, which hopefully will encourage him to get back to the form he showed at the end of the last season when he was labelled the next Chris Kaye by some knowledgable observers.
