A BACK injury toTravis Townsend has forced Heywood to engage deputy professionals for the coming weekend’s games (May 5 and 6).

Chris Schofield, Todmorden’s current professional in the Lancashire League, will stand in for tomorrow’s home game against Woodhouses.

And Harvey Hossein, a young wicketkeeper batsman with Derbyshire CCC, steps into the breach for Sunday’s trip to Moorside in the first round of the Derek Kay 1st X1 Cup.

Heywood’s choices as replacement for Townsend, who hopes to be fit for the following weekend, were confined to like-for-like English qualified players having played first-class cricket.

Schofield, apart from a significant career with England and Lancashire, is well known to Heywood supporters from his time with Littleborough where he started as a junior in the Central Lancashire League.

Danny Pawson will skipper the team in both games.
